The kids were asleep in their cribs as I was strapped to an infant to my back. Ha! The whole thing started to seem logical, however it wasn't quite done. The project would require lots of time and money and shopping my favorite interiors to decorate this place. To stay in my budget I took my sons along with me as I searched for gems hidden in estate sales. Our weekly routine consisted of walking from Thursday to Saturday through estate sales and garage sales buying a mixture of antique and brand new furniture while I spent on weekdays painting and sanding the driveway. It looked a bit similar to this... Here's where my obsession with the restoration of antique furniture began. After our home was fully decorated, I couldn't stop! In the market in town, I rented a small space, and also sold items. Eventually, I had too many pieces to store in the space available. At home, I started hosting open houses where more than 1000 guests could visit and buy any item they wanted from the first floor within a single weekend. Growing Days was founded in my own home. Growing Days was more than a thriving business but it was also a loving family. As a young mom I was able to strike the right way to be able to begin my own business and also become a great mother. Growing Days just fit. Nora was born in 2013 as our 4th baby. The direction of my business was great, but I had to rest for a while. I decided to put off working on my antique furniture for a while and be at home with the kids. This was precisely what I required. After a few minutes I began to hear my phone ringing. A lot of people contacted me seeking advice on home improvement and decorating. The majority of people who contacted me were from those who visited my home at one of my furniture open house events. While I was working I began adding clients each day. But it wasn't long before I had many clients and operated a successful home remodeling business. Had you told me my business would be an idea for the DIY Network show, I likely would have laughed. Indeed, I am laughing a little when I remember it.
