She was born March 29th 1985, in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michelle is her birth name. Gerina Stevenson has Mexican parentage Rita Stevenson (mother) and Alan Stevenson (father). The mother of two is Mexican American as well as an American in the nationality. From a young age her drive to become involved in sports was evident. Gerina first started golfing at the age of 15. Gerina graduated from high school at Goddard High School. The school won her place in the New Mexico State Golf Tournament in her high school years. Her volleyball skills were also recognized at the national level. She began attending the University of Texas. She took home all the events she took part in throughout her senior years. During undergraduate studies she was awarded the title that included Conference USA Female Athlete and Conference USA Individual Player of the Year.
